People often ask us

Effective ingredients used in Effektri Omega-3 have received altogether 17 EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) -approved health claims. This makes this wild fish and extra virgin olive oil composition very unique and effective.

Let’s not forget that the most important factor is absorption!
You could very well say that: “Animals are what they absorb”. This is why it’s good to make sure that the product you use is in an absorbant form, and that the body and system is able to utilize the beneficial nutrients of the omega 3 nutritional oil. We have made possible the analysis and measurement of essential omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acid blood levels. Another point that is positively highlighted by pet owners is ease of use. One product for the whole family, no matter the age or breed.

Most omega-3 products contain only fish based omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA), or only plant-based omega-3 fatty acids (ALA). Effektri increases EPA and DPA fatty acids’ portion in the diet, which increases the omega-3 index in cats, dogs and horses, providing protection against inflammation-based diseases. Behind Effektri’s great absorption are the carefully selected human-grade ingredients, which combine the best sides of Arctic and Mediterranean diets. Research-based insights are the base in Effektri, where the polyphenols of extra virgin olive oil is combined with EPA and DHA fatty acids from refined and high-quality fish oil in a way which enables the animal to safely and efficiently restore and maintain a normal omega-6/-3 fatty acid balance permanently in their system. This balance is a key part of the “restoration and maintenance” of a normal omega-6/omega-3 balance, safely and efficiently. The Effektri product line also includes an analytics service (DBS test), with which you can reliably find out e.g. if additional oils are needed, and if the product used is absorbed properly.

Not when the oil is properly protected. You might have come across blog posts, publications in Finland, or animal nutritional education material, where you are advised to avoid omega-products in plastic containers. Appended is a correction research result, which only covers Effektri’s preservation in the plastic and aluminium containers we use. Food safety

Antioxidants are usually used to protect fish oil from “oxidation”, i.e. from spoiling. Oxygen, light and heat is poison for the sensitive parts of fish oil. The polyphenols of the cold-pressed virgin oil used in Effektri protect the fish oil from oxidation in the system for over 24 hours. Extra virgin olive oil has another as important mission on a cellular level. The key active ingredients in olive oil, hydroxytyrosol, squalene and oleuropein, modify the cell membrane’s fatty acid profile and displace e.g. excess arachidonic acid, thus lowering low-level inflammation risk. Effektri also contains vitamin E, which acts as an antioxidant, d-alpha tocopherol, in a bioactive state. The oxidation stability of Effektri is excellent.

Virgin olive oil is a natural oil, which is extracted from fresh olives with mechanical cold pressing. Before cold pressing, the olives are pressed without heating or solvents. Virgin olive oil tastes fruity, and it naturally contains lots of bioactive polyphenols.

EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) has approved the following health claim for the bioactive polyphenols in olive oil (Commission Regulation (EU) 432/2012): “ Olive oil polyphenols contribute to the protection of blood lipids from oxidative stress. The claim may be used only for olive oil, containing at least 5 mg of hydroxytyrosol and its derivatives (e.g. oleuropein complex and tyrosol) per 20 g of olive oil. In order to bear the claim information shall be given to the consumer that the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 20 g of olive oil.”

We advise everyone to check the omega-6/omega-3 balance of the current feeding by using the Effektri Balance test, and to simultaneously find out if the feeding contains sufficient levels of EPA and DHA fatty acids. The test measures fatty acids from full blood, which means it gives a precise profile of the fatty acid profile of the current feeding. With this profile you can calculate the relation of omega-6/omega-3 fatty acids. If the feeding is balanced, the omega-6/omega-3 fatty acid relation is smaller than 5:1 for dogs, and smaller than 8:1 for horses. If you need to normalize the animal’s omega-6/omega-3 balance, we recommend combining Effektri oil with organic food and sufficient excercise. The Effektri fatty acid profile measures and analyzes 11 different fatty acid levels in the system. ( 97,5%) Read more about the test here: DBS Test

An unbalanced diet increases the risk of low-level inflammation. With the Effektri fatty acid profile test you can find ouy whether the feeding furthers or reduces inflammation. If you suspect low-level inflammation troubles, the Effe Balance test kit is a quick, easy and painless way to find out if your pet receives sufficient amounts of natural fats from the current feeding. If the system doesn’t contain sufficient omega-3 fatty acids in relation to omega-6 fatty acids, we recommend regular intake of Effektri.
Essential fatty acids take care of many necessary functions for normal physiological health, in cats, dogs and horses. An absorbant and oxidation-protected fatty acid formulation carries a lot of positive effects in the healthy daily life of animals. Fish-based omega-3 fatty acids are a vital part of the forming of a normal and balanced pro- and anti-inflammatory fatty acid profile in cats’, dogs’ and horses’ systems. Also, omega-3 fatty acids are an important part of natural and healthy growth and development. Several scientific research articles show that omega-3 (EPA and DHA) are vital for heart and blood circulation system health, puppy nervous system and muscle development, cognitive health (memory, learning), as well as mood and behavior management (disruptive behavior, aggressivness towards other dogs). Omega 3 fatty acids support bone structure development in puppies. DHA plays a key role in brain and sight development. A balanced omega-6 / omega-3 balance supports natural immune system and balances hormone functions.
If allergy is suspected, as with humans, the animal is usually more allergic to fish protein, not necessarily fish fat. Massage a small amount of fish oil on the dog’s or horse’s paw/leg, or other spot where the skin is bare. The skin reacts quickly if the animal is allergic to fish oil. If there are no symptoms, start dosage according to instructions.
From the first steps. Initially in small doses. (Adjust the dosage according to the dosage calculator at the latest when the animal turns one year old.) Check dosage according to weight in kilograms: DOSAGE CALCULATOR We recommend combining the dosing of the product with organic feeding and breed-specific environmental factors.
Yes you can, as energy waste. An empty 1000ml bottle can be used as e.g. a handier dosage container if you get a 5000ml Equi container.
Omega fatty acids are the key components of cells and protective cell membranes, and this is why it’s vital to make sure high-quality fatty acids are replenished daily.
Raw food, BARF and organic feeding are usually good choices considering dog health. Various industrial dry foods or raw products can often be produced or sourced from farm animals. Farm animal feed can include fodder which is not part of the natural diet of the animal. Exceptions are game, e.g. deer, elk, reindeer. The fat composition of these animals is natural and eating them furthers the pet’s natural omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acid balance of the system.
It’s good to recognize that omega-3 and omega-6 are also available in industrially-produced food. By adding Effe to the daily feedin, there is still no risk of overdosing. Usually the fat quality and amount in industrial products is insufficient for the animal’s needs. Unless e.g. your dog has a rash, itch, allergy, or joing issues, you should check the diet and possible environmental factors. The Effe Balance dry blood analysis is an easy and painless way to test the animal’s omega-3 levels in the current feeding. Test page: DBS Test
Waste material build-up in joints can cause pain and inflammation. It has been observed that regular oil dosage has a positive effect on relieving symptoms. Research shows that EPA, one of the omega-3 fatty acids, relieves pain and removes inflammation from joints. Regular light excercise and a healthy organic diet support healing.
GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICE (GMP)
GMP is a collection of rules that set the standard for a high-quality system, personnel, premises, instruments, documentation, production, quality assurance, appeals, recalls and self-checks. Our producer’s GMP certificate means that our products are produced according to these rules, which in turn ensures that ingredients, cleanliness and labels are in order.
GMP:S RULES MEAN:
  • The production instruments and processes are approved
  • The entire production process is documented
  • The production accessories and facilities are cleaned according to code, and the work is documented
  • Ingredient naming, labeling and packaging is approved
  • The product can be traced from the product number (batch numbers)
INTERNATIONAL ISO 9001 STANDARDS
The internationally recognized ISO 9001 standard is common, and is designed to create international conditions for production quality requirements. This certificate is monitored by an external private third party, who ensures to the customer that they can trust the producer/supplier as they fulfill the internal process requirements.
THE KEY CONDITIONS OF THIS STANDARD:
  • Quality assurance system
  • Production responsibility
  • Resource management
FOOD SAFETY

Food safety is often associated with the food being safe to consume, and that there are no health risks. Unknown substances or their remains can be found in nearly every foodstuff, and might arise naturally with decay. Impurities can be e.g. biochemical substances, which might result in health issues, depending on their type. Also, the type of impurity affects the edibility of the product. For known substances, there are levels which are used to define the maximum amount for the product in question.

Our producers do regular checks to ensure that these levels are not exceeded in the products. For example, we want to make sure that the oils do not contain heavy metals, PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) or dioxin. Also, the products undergo microbiological analysis, which indicates possible harmful micro organisms.
